Cyclically Reduced Term

Definition

We say that a term $w$ in a group $G$ is cyclically reduced if

• there contain no two consecutive elements in $w$ that are inverses of each other.
• If the first element of $w$ is $a$ then the last element of $w$ is not $a^{-1}$.
